A Figure of Eight

Due giorni. Due laghi gemelli. Appennino settentrionale. Novembre 2012. Un cammino.

Un passo alla volta. Abbiamo chiuso la figura di “8” con il nostro cammino.
2,7 km.
Terreno rotto. Molte deviazioni dalla linea di riva. Non troppe.
Lungo il cammino abbiamo raccolto 8 frasi:
Cobalt blue.
Balance.
Una grotta.
Torrential rain the night before.
Una trota controcorrente.
Albero spezzato. Alberi legati.
Foglie secche.
Still water.

Un sasso blu. E il riflesso di un tronco.
Testo su carta millimetrata. Su carta di cotone. Parole nere. Parole bianche.
Otto minuti di registrazione video.

A Figure of Eight
Two days. Twin lakes. Northern Apennines. November 2012. A walk.
Walking around the lakes in “a figure of eight”.
One step at a time. We drew the “8” by walking.
2,7 km.
Path blocked. There were diversions away from the shoreline. Not too many.
During  the walk we gathered 8 phrases:
Cobalt blue.
Balance.
Una grotta. (A cave.)
Torrential rain the night before.
Una trota controcorrente. (A trout swimming upstream.)
Albero spezzato. Alberi legati. (Broken tree. Conjoined trees.)
Foglie secche. (Dried leaves.)
Still water.

A blue stone. And the reflection of a tree trunk.
Text on graph paper. On cotton paper. Black words. White words.
